Did you have a day filled with poor food choices and or one too many alcoholic beverages? It’s ok! Move on and get back on track with this restorative smoothie. It contains functional ingredients to help offset some of the symptoms you may experience the day after like dehydration, gastritis, low blood sugar, irritability, fatigue, etc.
Ingredients:
- 1 inch cube of fresh ginger root (can substitute with 1 tsp ginger powder)
Ginger aids with nausea and contains powerful anti-inflammatory compounds - 8-12 ounces coconut water (can substitute with plain water)
Coconut water provides much needed fluid and electrolytes - 1 whole, medium orange, peeled
Oranges provide a natural source of sugar for energy and vitamin C, an anti-oxidant and immune booster - Juice from 1 lemon
Lemons also provides vitamin C and other anti-oxidant compounds - 1 tsp ground turmeric
Turmeric contains curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound - 1-2 dashes black pepper (or take/swallow 1 whole peppercorn to aid the absorption of the curcumin in turmeric)
- 1 scoop Growing Naturals Vanilla Pea Protein Powder
Protein aids with regulation of blood sugar and some hormones - Ice as needed (to help you cool off)
- ½ Tbsp flaxseed or chia seeds (optional, omit if the stomach is uneasy)
Seeds like these are rich in fiber which benefits both blood sugar and the digestive system
Directions:
Mix ingredients in a blender thoroughly and enjoy on any day (but especially after a long day or night of imbibing).
