Protein is unique in its natural ability to promote satiety better than carbs or fat.  This occurs through various mechanisms in the body and is suspected to vary slightly for different protein sources.  Researchers in Miami, Fl. are currently investigating the effect of rice protein or pea protein on satiety and food intake, compared to the commonly known whey protein.  The study will be double-blind, placebo controlled, randomized and cross-over in nature.  Preliminary results are expected early in 2014.
