Latest "Got Milk" Campaign Takes on Non-Dairy Milks

Latest "Got Milk" Campaign Takes on Non-Dairy MilksYou think you've seen misleading ads in the Presidential campaign? Now you can really see something entertaining, yet needing fact checking, when you watch the Dairy Association's new campaign out to discredit dairy milk alternatives. As Clinton would say, let's look at the score card... Vitamins & Minerals The American Dairy Association leaves viewers thinking that riboflavin (vitamin B2), calcium carbonate, and zinc gluconate are bad things, when these are just the scientific names of essential vitamins and minerals. Funny thing is... riboflavin and calcium are naturally occurring in dairy milk, so dairy manufacturers are not required to list these on their ingredients panel. At Growing Naturals we're proud to have enriched our Rice Drink Powder with our Rice Protein, Calcium, and Vitamin D so that you are getting all the same benefits but without the allergens. SCORE: 1 Point Dairy 1 Point Non-Dairy (Other) 1 Point GN Non-Dairy Rice Milk (But we'll take Dairy's point away for poor sportsmanship.) Sugar They also elude that non-dairy milks have a lot of sugar. For example, our Growing Naturals Creamy Vanilla rice milk powder has only 2.5 grams of sugar. But they forgot to mention that often dairy milk has sugar, which often averages 11grams! SCORE: 0 Points Dairy 0 Point Non-Dairy (Others*) 1 Point GN Non-Dairy Rice Milk *(Unfortunately most other flavored non-dairy milks are high in sugar.) Science Finally, they imply "science is bad" but last we checked dairy cows are often producing unnaturally large amounts of milk thanks to science and the finished dairy milk can thank science for being pasteurized, fortified with Vitamin A & D and possibly tainted with growth hormone. While organic options are increasing across the board, often non-dairy milks are either derived from genetically modified plants, utilize a chemical-based process that can include hexane or are hydrolyzed to make more soluble in water. We can assure you that our rice milk powder is organic, utilizes a chemical-free enzymatic process and is not hydrolyzed. SCORE: 0 Points Dairy 0 Points Non-Dairy (Others) 1 Point GN Non-Dairy Rice Milk Score Card Grand Total 0 Points Dairy 1 Points Non-Dairy (Others) 3 Points GN Non-Dairy Rice Milk WINNER!
